Meet Alex, the heart and soul of Shrooma's café. With over 20 years in hospitality, Alex has swapped pulling pints in New Zealand for pouring mushroom-infused lattes in Oswestry. She’s the mastermind behind Shrooma’s warm, welcoming vibe and the unique menu crafted with mushrooms grown just upstairs.
When she’s not running the café, Alex is busy with her kids, her two mischievous rescue dogs, and a spot of netball. Health-focused, community-driven, and always up for a Lion’s Mane tea—Alex has big plans for Shrooma to be a thriving wellness hub that spreads mushroom love far and wide.
Born and raised in Oswestry, Paul grew up foraging mushrooms in the local countryside—a passion that has come full circle with Shrooma. He has used his property background to secure the Grade II listed building that now serves as Shrooma’s home, and his mushroom knowledge to convert the upstairs into a specialist urban farm. Paul believes customers should know exactly where their food comes from, and trust and transparency in food sourcing are core values at Shrooma. There’s no better way to ensure that than by growing mushrooms just upstairs in the café’s urban farm. When he’s not at Shrooma, you’ll find Paul mentoring property investors or trainspotting with his son. Paul’s motto? Mushrooms make everything better.
